We loved getting to hand out our new summer t-shirts showing the Forward Thinking design of our recently redesigned website, as well as koozies to keep the drinks cold. Each summer, Great Plains Communications employees enjoy getting involved in the different communities around Nebraska through parades and events and we are excited for another season of fun. Chatty, the Great Plains Communications Squirrel will also be around this summer, available to take pictures, give high-fives and hand out goodies. Here is a list of our upcoming events:

2015 Knox County Bull-A-Rama and Chase County Fair

This week is a full of exciting events that Great Plains Communications is honored to be a part of. Tonight, August 13, we will be sponsoring the Knox County Bull-A-Rama starting at 7:00 P.M. in Bloomfield, NE. So, if you are in the area, come on out for the thrill of each bull ride, laughs from the clowns and the chance to get a free #GPCSummerSelfie shirt! The other event Great Plains Communications is gearing up for is the Chase County Fair in Imperial, NE. Look for us Friday night at the Jerrod Niemann concert for a chance to receive a free #GPCSummerSelfie shirt. Then don’t forget to keep an eye out for the Great Plains Communications float in the parade on Saturday! Chatty the Great Plains Communications squirrel will be there to take selfies and hand out some goodies.

Great Plains Communications is so excited to be a part of these events and looks forward to interacting with our communities. Watch next week for pictures from both the Knox County Bull-A-Rama and Chase County Fair on all of our social sites. The Custer County Bull Riding Classic is a thrilling event for the whole family to enjoy. This Monday, July 27 marks the seventeenth year for the event held at the Custer County Fairgrounds in Broken Bow, NE. Great Plains Communications is excited for the chance to once again be a part of such a great community event, sponsoring the rodeo clown Justin Rumford. Below we have listed the activities you can expect to see this year:

  • Over $7,000 in cash and prizes awarded
  • Trick ropers
  • Intense bull riding with Cody Webster (NFR & PBR Finals Bullfighter) and Rowdy Moon (Bullfighter of the year)
  • An exciting Short Round of the top 10 finalists
  • Justin Rumford as the rodeo clown
  • Hadley Barrett as the announcer

So, if you are looking for a way to get the family out of the house Monday night and are in the area, come down to the Custer County Fairgrounds at 7:30 P.M. and watch all the Custer County Bull Riding Classic has to offer. If you can’t make it, don’t worry, Great Plains Communications will be recording the event and will air it on GPC-TV and post the video on our YouTube channel and Facebook page.

Hang Out With Us this August!

Chatty and the Great Plains Communications’ team will be hanging out around the state!  Chatty will be available to take pictures and hand out coloring books to the kids.  It’s going to be a fun time for all.

Saturday, August 2, 2014: Red Cloud Street Car Days Parade – Chatty will be here! 

Events and activities include: car show, burnout contest, golf, 5k run/walk, parade, face painting & sidewalk chalk art, ice cream social, art exhibits, free swimming, bingo, bowling, horseshoe contest, kid’s fishing contest, “Little Tuggers” tractor pull, fireman’s BBQ, beer garden & dance, laser tag, fly-in pancake breakfast, mud drags, Broken Horn Ranch Fun Day, food and craft vendors, and much, much more!

Thursday, August 7, 2014: Thayer County Fair Parade; Deshler – Chatty will be here! 

The County Fair includes a vintage Tractor Pull, Memorial race, band performances and more.  Chatty will make an appearance during the parade on the 7th.  The fair also features a full carnival with rides, games and food.  We can’t wait!

Thursday, August 7, 2014: Knox County Fair; Bloomfield; Sponsor of  the Bull-A-Rama @ 7 pm

The Knox County Bull-A-Rama is one of the largest rodeo events in the state and we have been proud a sponsor for many years.  Held during the Knox County Fair, this event brings together some of the best riders in the region.  If you want to see more, you can view last year’s event right here.

Saturday, August 9, 2014: Old Settlers Day Parade; Indianola – Chatty will be here! 

It is the 91st Old Settlers Day Parade!  It’s a family celebration including a parade, road race, paintball tournament, kiddie carnival, frog jumping contest and more. The perfect place to meet up with everyone’s favorite squirrel!

Friday, August 15, 2014: Sponsor of the Chase County Fair Concert Series and Saturday, August 16, 2014; Parade – Chatty will be here! 

Come and join us for two nights of fun at this amazing concert series! On Friday, we will be handing out free t-shirts to the first 300 people who attend.  On Saturday, Award Winner, Chris Young with special guest Courtney Cole will perform on Saturday.  Chris Young was declared the winner of the television program USA Networks Nashville Star. His album, The Man I Want to Be, included the singles “Voices”, “Gettin’ You Home” and “The Man I Want to Be”, which all went to number 1. Young’s next album, Neon, produced two more number ones in “Tomorrow” and “You”.

Have You Met Chatty?

Chatty

We have a brand new member of the Great Plains Communications family!  His name is Chatty and he will be joining our customers at many of this summer’s best events!

Chatty loves to talk on the phone, surf the Internet and watch Husker games on the Big Ten Network.  Chatty will have his first appearance tonight at the Elgin parade.  He will be taking pictures with the kids.  You won’t be able to miss his big smile and peppy attitude!

You’ll see a lot of Chatty around our communities, in our blog and videos.  We hope that you will join us at our many other summer events.  If you would like to know where Chatty will be next, keep an eye on our blog as we’ll be covering his schedule in the upcoming weeks!
