Great Plains Communications knows how proud you are of your school. We’ve had the pleasure of seeing you showcase prowess in sports and use cutting edge technology in the classroom.
Now, it’s your time to show just how awesome your school is by participating in our “Pump Up” video contest. All you have to do is make a 1 to 2 minute video “pumping up” your school and your team. Once your video is done, upload it to YouTube and send the link to us.
Don’t forget that this is a representation of your school. It’s important to get permission from your principal or activities director before you shoot and submit a video. Whether you are on the football, basketball, golf, track (or even chess!) team, you can all submit a video for your particular team.
We encourage you to be creative, use your imagination, and show your school spirit! Show us and the rest of your community just what you’ve got!
Congratulations Creighton High School for winning the 2013 Fall Sports Contest on GPC-TV Channel 2!
Schools participating in the contest sent in video replays of fall sporting events which were then aired on channel 2. Local sporting events are a big favorite of our Cable customers and we were happy to bring so much local sports coverage to their TV’s.
Creighton High School had over 25 events aired during the fall sports season which earned the athletic department first place and $650. A check was presented to Activities Director Randy Kliment by GPC-TV’s very own Programming Manager Casey Garrigan and local Great Plains Communications employee Mike Zerbe. Be sure to check out all the Bulldog action on GPC-TV now featuring Weather on Channel 2.
You can also check out sports from high schools in a range of our communities during the entire school year on GPC-TV. You can check on the availability of GPC-TV in your area by looking at our channel guides. The local channel is a benefit just for our Cable customers and can’t be accessed with any other Cable provider. If you want to get local sports coverage, you can call our Customer Response Center at 1-855-853-1483.
Congratulations to our Marketing Department! They took home three awards at last night’s Public Relations Society of America – Nebraska Chapter’s Paper Anvil Awards. Our super talented team won for the following:
Award of Excellence for the Weather on 2 Product Launch
Award of Excellence for our Great Tech Campaign
Award of Merit for the Unite Private Networks Website Design
If you have a moment, take a second to congratulate our team on Facebook or in the comments section of our blog!
We’ve launched a brand new weather service in the Grant and Imperial areas on GPC-TV. The new Weather on 2 provides current local and national weather 24/7 using advanced satellite imaging. Viewers can also check out the five day forecast.
Unlike many other channels that provide weather from miles away, this service provides the best local weather coverage to area residents. Also unlike other services, Weather on Channel 2 provides updates all day long.
Of course GPC-TV is a benefit available only for Great Plains Communications Cable customers. Being our Cable customer is the only way you will be able to enjoy this new weather service. If you are in the Grant and Imperial area and don’t have Great Plains Communications Cable, then call 1-855-853-1483
Members of our GPC-TV staff recently made their way to Ponca Public Schools to officially present their check as winner of our recent Winter Sports Contest!
The school hasn’t made an official announcement yet as to what the money will be spent on, but the school has said they may be used on new banners.
We are very grateful for schools such as Ponca that allow us to provide our customers with the local sports programming that they love. We believe that 2013 will bring even more local high school events to GPC-TV! In 2012, GPC-TV aired hundreds of hours of local sports programming, which included football, volleyball and basketball games.
Our team at GPC-TV is always looking for new, local programming. So if you want to see your school’s sports this fall, we encourage you to contact your athletic director and get him involved!
GPC-TV airs in many of our towns and provides a wealth of award-winning original and Nebraska-minded content. If you would like to see if GPC-TV is available in your area, check out our channel guides.
As spring begins, the winter sports season is winding down and we’ve got the winners of our Winter Sports Contest! Before the season began, we asked high schools in the communities that we serve to send in coverage of their winter sports activities to air on GPC-TV. We know it’s some of our customers’ favorite programming that they can’t get anywhere else!
The contest was a resounding success with more than 100 games submitted by schools from around the state. We are pleased to announce that 4 schools received awards under the contest. Creighton and North Bend each received a $50 donation for their athletics department. Ponca was our grand prize winner for most events aired earning the school a $500 donation and McCook received $75 cash donations plus a brand new iPad for having the best cinematography.
If you live in any of these communities, we encourage you to say “congratulations!”. Don’t forget that GPC-TV is your only place to see local high school sports programming throughout the year.
For the third year in a row, we received recognition from the Nebraska chapter of the Public Relations Society of America. Three programs were recognized this year and we are very proud of our team! Our Auto-Pay Contest received an Award of Merit in the integrated communications category. The GPC-TV Sports Contest also received an Award of Merit in the direct mail/direct response category. Finally, our new Enterprise Sales Folder won an award of merit in the brochure category. Congrats to our entire team who work very hard getting the Great Plains Communications message out there!
Some of our customers’ favorite programming on GPC-TV, our local community channel, is high school sports programming including football, basketball, and volleyball.
In order to provide hours of sporting coverage every week, we work with high schools from around the state to provide their home team’s games. Already this year, we have received dozens of hours of footage and have aired various fall sporting events.
We recently rolled out our winter sports replay contest where we asked athletic departments in the communities that we serve to send in a DVD recording of their winter sporting events. Schools will earn donations for their athletic departments. Plus, the school who submits the most events that are aired will win a grand prize of a $500 grant. An iPad is also being awarded to the school with the best video recording quality.
The new contest means that we’ll have tons of local sports programming for you to enjoy all winter long. Cheer on local basketball teams as they play for a spot in the state championships or check out the up-and-coming volleyball players who could be the next Husker great! It’s going to be a great winter full of wonderful competition on GPC-TV!
